Janice Conway was born in Amarillo, Texas. She went to Tascosa High School, and then she had one year of college at ACU. Her favorite subjects were typing and drama.
Mrs. Conway lived in Amarillo until she was a young adult. The reasons she chose to live where she did are college and it’s where she met her husband. The reason she chose to be a teacher is the fact that she loves children. She loves to be able to teach them and see the supposed ‘Light bulb’ come on when they realize what something means. If she could choose any other career in the world she says that she would be a Travel Agent.
Some of her hobbies when she was a child included: sleeping and needle point. Her hobbies now, as opposed to back then, have changed quite a bit. They now include: Reading, doing volunteer work for the church, and going to Africa.
When asked what she thinks the biggest change in the world today from the world that she knew as a child was she answered by describing the fact that children get away with more. There are fewer consequences nowadays than there were back then, and on top of that there is more technology to influence them to do bad things.
On the topic of children, she has one child, two step children, and two granddaughters, all of which live in Abilene.
The unique family tradition that their family has is the fact that they go to Africa every summer.
One thing that you would not guess Mrs. Conway has done to look at her is that when she was thirteen she took her parent’s car without their permission and drove it around Amarillo.
Everyone loves vacations, some are good and some are bad. Mrs. Conway’s best vacation was when she, and her family, went to see Old Faithful in Yellowstone and when they went to see Mt. Rushmore. Her worst vacation was when she went to Bimini in the Bahamas on a dinky little sailboat, on which she got sun burned and sea sick!
The fanciest party she’s ever been to was a company Christmas party. While on the subject of fun times, the final question was ‘What was the most fun you’ve had in a single day?’ to which she replied that the most fun she’d ever had in a single day was when she went vacationing with her family in Switzerland.
